Did You Know - The Story Behind Our New Name - Richland Ave Financial

The Story Behind Our New Name—”Richland Ave Financial”

Having received approval during voting at the 2024 national convention, the FWB Board of Retirement and Insurance is in the process of officially becoming Richland Ave Financial. So, where did that name come from and why was it chosen?

From the beginning, choosing a name focused on honoring the rich history and heritage of Free Will Baptists. A specific location from our past immediately stood out – the Nashville property purchased in 1953 at 3801 Richland Avenue housed our national departments together for the first time. Only two blocks from the original Free Will Baptist Bible (Welch) College campus, agency staff members benefitted from working in a central location to serve and expand the denomination. Richland Ave Financial seemed the perfect fit to reference the past while looking toward a bright future.

For five decades, the Free Will Baptist Board of Retirement and Insurance, Inc. has provided a reliable source of savings and stable income for our pastors, missionaries, teachers, and ministry workers. We are now posed to offer retirement products to other like-minded evangelical organizations – which not only allows these ministries to provide retirement-focused care for their employees, but ultimately benefits Free Will Baptists as we steward increased assets.

We are excited to use this expansion of services to care for Free Will Baptist workers as they share the Good News of Jesus Christ at home and around the world. We believe Richland Ave Financial is a name that will honor our heritage and reflect the idea of being “better together” to benefit our denomination, while expanding the scope of our impact.
